PHOTOVOLTAICS DEFINITELY PAY OFF, ONCE INSTALLED, THEY PROVIDE RETURN ON INVESTMENT IN THE FOLLOWING 20-30 YEARS

Photovoltaics definitely pay off from an economic point of view. We use them to generate energy for pumping water which is most needed in the summer. So we use them from May to September when we have practically the greatest solar insulation.
However, we can also use them during the other months to maintain the cooling chambers, that is to maintain the temperature in the chambers where we keep our products. Once installed, they last and operate for the next 20 or 30 years. So, it's something that definitely pays off to do.
In the future we must think about solving the problem of water supply. One way we have used so far is irrigation from the canals; we should start changing this practice and start irrigation from boreholes, which on the other hand will be more expensive, because we will have to pump out water from the springs.
This means that we need to continue the concept we introduced with the assistance of UNDP and continue to use renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic equipment for powering the pumps that will pump out water from the boreholes.
On the one hand, we also have to be mindful of the environment and use energy in an environmentally conscious manner in order to protect the water resources and reserves which are needed in order to provide sufficient quantities of water for the plants. That is one of our priorities.
